louie Vito

If there’s one athlete who’s inspiring kids to pack up their game consoles and get out on the slopes, it’s Louie Vito. Born in Ohio, USA in 1988, Louie, or ‘LV’, is the definition of a snowboarding success story.

A gymnast from an early age, Louie was always into sport, but it wasn't until he picked up a board that he truly found his niche. As soon as he was old enough, Louie enrolled at the Stratton Mountain School in Vermont where he received expert tutelage.

It's perhaps Louie’s combination of skills in snowboarding and gymnastics that have led him to become so successful. His ambition in creating astounding height and rotation whilst sustaining such finesse makes him lethal competition in the Halfpipe event.

Since taking second place at the FIS Junior World Snowboarding Championships in 2005, he has gone from strength to strength. Between the 2010 Winter Olympics and the end of 2011 alone, Louie claimed a whopping 12 podium spots in grand slam events both nationally and internationally, including three consecutive Winter X Games, three Winter Dew Tours, and three US Snowboarding Grand Prix.

He has also gone on to take first places at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and the Winter Dew Tour and second places at the Winter X Games in Tignes and the Burton US Open. "Push yourself and take advantage of the opportunities in front of you," Louie has been quoted as saying - an ethos he's clearly living by.
