Robbie "Maddo" Maddison

Robbie Maddison’s career is one of world records, triumphs against adversity and huge, mind-boggling daredevil jumps. Watching him in action, you would be forgiven for assuming that his nickname ‘Maddo’ had nothing to do with his surname at all. Robbie’s fearless nature may stem from the years he spent recovering from debilitating illness when he was younger, or it may just be that he calculates the risks, understands the implications of gravity and the potential downsides of jumping himself and a hefty, highly strung stunt bike to over 400 feet in the air... and then completely disregards them and does it anyway.

Some of the feats that Robbie has achieved during his career are simply astounding. On 29 March 2008, he broke his own world record twice during the Crusty Demons Night of World Records show in Melbourne, Australia. On his second attempt he broke the world record by travelling 342 feet 7 inches (104.42 m). He landed hard on his back tyre and was not satisfied by the jump, so he decided to jump once more. On his third jump he again broke the world record, this time with 106.98m (350.98 feet) and landed perfectly. He has also jumped across an open Tower Bridge in London - incorporating a back-flip for good measure - and has won many ‘Best Trick’ trophies to fill up his house in California – which he probably jumps over from time to time.
